We are trying this plant for the first time. Also known as Eryngium its a hardy perennial with study stems. Beautiful fresh and dried in arrangements. It tolerates hot, sunny locations but does not like damp wet conditions. Plants produce flowers during the second year of growth and in subsequent years. Attracts bees, beneficial flies and wasps. Perennial in Zones 3-8. Eryngium planum
LIGHT PREFERENCE: Sun
PLANT HEIGHT: 40-46 inches.
PLANT SPACING: 8-12 inches
HARVEST: Fresh or dried: Cut when the entire flower head and bracts turn blue or white, depending on the cultivar. Can be hung to air dry, or dry in desiccant to preserve more color.
SOIL REQUIREMENTS: Dry, sandy soil, but will tolerate saline soil conditions. Eryngium is sensitive to overwatering
