Empress of India Nasturtium
Empress of India Nasturtium
4 plants in 4 x 2.5 multi cell pack
This nasturtium has stunning scarlet flowers and dark green leaves. It is a Victorian era heirloom. The plants are compact making them ideal for containers and garden borders. At Wildland Gardens, I grow these in partial shade in the front garden where I can easily admire their beauty. All parts of the plant are edible with a spicy cress flavor.
LIGHT PREFERENCE: Sun/Part Shade
SOIL REQUIREMENTS: Well-drained, but not especially rich soil. High nitrogen levels promote more foliage than flower production.
PLANT SPACING: 8-12". Thin to 3-5 plants in hanging baskets or 10" containers.
HARVEST: Edible flowers: Harvest when the flowers are fully open.Edible leaves: Harvest anytime
