Jalapeño Pepper
Jalapeño Pepper
One plant in 4.5 inch deep pot.
Big, smooth, dark green ripening to red. Vigorous plants consistently produce very high yields of 3 1/2 to 4" peppers that are resistant to cracking. We use green jalapeños to make salsa and ripen some to red for making hot sauce. I always put away a few in the freezer for winter cooking. High resistance to bacterial leaf spot races 1-3, 7, 8 and potato virus Y.
LIGHT PREFERENCE: Sun
PLANT SPACING: Transplant out after frost when the soil is warm and weather is settled. Ideal seedlings have buds, but no open flowers. Set plants 12-18" apart in rows 24-36" apart.
HARVEST: Pick the first peppers promptly when they reach full size to encourage further fruit set.
