Lemon Balm
Lemon Balm
One two year old plant in 4.5 inch deep pot.
Fragrant lemon flavor that is best when leaves are fresh. Wonderful added to tea or ice water. Leaves are best before the plants flower in mid-summer. Honey bees love the flowers. It is a perennial and does slowly spread in the garden, but not as intensely as mint. (I’m grateful to be named Melissa after this special plant :)
LIGHT PREFERENCE: Sun
SOIL REQUIREMENTS: Grow in moist, well-drained soil of medium fertility.
PLANT HEIGHT: 18-26"
PLANT SPACING: 12"
HARVEST: Individual leaves may be picked as soon as the plants have become established. Cut entire stalks before the plants begin to bloom, being careful not to bruise the foliage.
