This is a native milkweed that attracts butterflies and bees. Grows well in arid soils. Also known as Pleurisy root, butterfly weed, butterfly milkweed, and butterfly-weed. Medicinal: Roots are a respiratory expectorant and diaphoretic. Perennial in Zones 4–9.

PLANT HEIGHT: 12-14 inches depending on soil fertility
PLANT SPACING: 12-24"
HARVEST: 1/2 to 2/3 of flowers are open. If stems wilt after harvest, rehydrate and they will come back
CAUTION: Milky sap may cause eye and skin irritation. Can be toxic if ingested.
SOIL:Well-drained, sandy loam to poor soil.
USES:Cut flower. Borders, containers, and butterfly gardens.
