Beautiful sorrel for salads with bright green leaves with contrasting, dark maroon stems and veins. Same sharp, tangy flavor as regular sorrel. Can be grown in pots or ground. Best harvest when leave are young. Open pollinated and good for seed saving. Rumex sanguineus. Perennial
LIGHT PREFERENCE: Part Shade
CULTURE: Planting in light shade and keeping the seed stalks cut increases summer quality, but a good crop will re-grow in fall even if plants bolt. Plants spread and can be divided.
HARVEST: Harvest side leaves until plants become well established; later, plants can be cut completely, right above the crown.
