Toothache Plant
An unusual plant with edible leaves and flowers. Even a small bite causes numbing and tingling in your mouth. Added to foods for its interaction and enhancement of flavors or taken for mouth or throat soreness. At Wildland Gardens we use it as a pretty border plant and for the fun of showing friends and guests how interesting plants can be. The flowers are a bulls-eye pattern of yellow and red. Flowers all summer long. Annual. Easy to collect seeds for future planting.
LIGHT PREFERENCE: Sun/Part-shade
SOIL REQUIREMENTS: Grows well in garden soil. Fairly drought tolerant once established, but thrives with regular watering
PLANT HEIGHT: Ht. 8-12”
PLANT SPACING: 6-12”
